Described as ‘pivotal’ by some, Tuesday’s visit across Stockley Park, to The Skyex
Community Stadium, has the hallmarks of being a very important local derby. Hayes & Yeading United are in fine form, on an eleven-game unbeaten league run, dating back to the 21st December 2024. Six wins and five draws have seen them climb to fifth in the table and into that all important final Play-Off position. Their only defeat of 2025 came in the Quarter-finals of the Middlesex Senior Cup against Hanwell Town, losing 1-2 at the Powerday Stadium. The current form table shows United in second place with fourteen points, two places and one point above us. United were relegated from the Southern League Premier Division South last season after a final day 3-3 draw at Bracknell Town just failed to save them from the drop. The experienced duo of Andy Leese and Simon Lane are the men in charge of trying to guide them back to Step 3 at the first attempt.
Last time out
Both sides were in action on Saturday, with contrasting fortunes. We travelled to Surrey
to face runaway league leaders Farnham Town, and after going 0-2 down in the opening half-an-hour, we fought back, and on another day – with a slice of luck in front of goal - could have returned with a point. United have had an extra hour’s rest coming into this encounter, their 2pm kick-off against Guernsey resulting in a 1-0 home victory, thanks to a first-half strike from Jose Sani.
Previously
In the reverse fixture, back in November, a 98th-minute equaliser for United from George
Sippetts saw the sides share the spoils in an enthralling 2-2 draw. George Moore with both
the Reds goals while Scott Armsworth put through his own net for the other United goal.
This will be the ninth meeting with our local rivals, Hayes & Yeading United holding the upper hand with four wins to two. The Skyex Community Stadium has not been a happy hunting ground for the Reds, two visits yielding two defeats and a 0-9 aggregate score.
The ones to watch!
Adrain Clifton is United’s top scorer, hitting the back of the net sixteen times in thirty-one
league appearances. The man in form is George Sippetts. Four goals in the last five league games have seen him double his tally for the season.
