This will be our first ever visit to Five Heads Park and only our second match against The
Deans (More on the first later). I think the best way to describe Horndean’s season so far is
inconsistent. They started the season with only one defeat in their opening six games, which saw them occupy fourth place in the table come the middle of September. They have drawn both games with Champions elect Farnham Town and have notable victories over Ascot United, Hanworth Villa and Rayners Lane. Following our meeting at Honeycroft in December, The Deans Manager Michael Birmingham departed the club to take over the reins at Bognor Regis Town, with Shaun Hale being appointed as his replacement. They were promoted to Step Four as Champions of the Wessex League Premier Division in 2023, and last season competed in the Isthmian League South East Division.
Last time out
In case you missed it, we were in action on Tuesday night at local rivals Hayes & Yeading
United. Trailing 1-2 in the 88th minute the players once again showed unbelievable courage and belief to score twice and take the all important three points. The jubilations both on and off the pitch at the final whistle will live long in the memory. The Deans were also in midweek action and suffered a 0-2 home defeat to Sutton Common Rovers.
Previously
A George Moore hat-trick helped us record our biggest league victory since Chertsey Town were dispatched 11-0 in 1985. After Zack Willett was sent-off in the 28th minute The Deans were on the back-foot. Already trailing 2-0 the goals came at regular intervals in The Reds 8-0 win.
The ones to watch
With twelve league goals in twenty-seven appearances Zack Willett is The Deans leading scorer. Young Billy Allcock has been involved in thirty-two of Horndeans thirty-four league encounters. Fourteen starts and eighteen sub appearances.
